Nice little trays for Change and stuff!

Portrays a different etched motif for each of the 4 seasons. I scored 7 in the pack that was hanging for sale. Unique thrift, like some of it's other sister-stores, have a good knack of bagging stuff in bundles and placing a cheap price on them!

Vintage Porcelain White/cobalt Push-Pull door plates

Where: a close friend whose house was trashed by Hurricane Sandy


These were given to me.  My friends house was destroyed during the hurricane, and when he brought me inside to check out the Basement, these were the first things I seen, and he was actually holding them for me! 

In near-perfect condition, white is very white and the cobalt blue is so lush and azure. Still has the original grommets. Hard to get these in this condition for they're usually salvaged and are worn where many pushes have been...   Unknown Date, possibly 1940's. Grey Dots are what seem to be paint splots.

I like kitchen gadgets and toys that help your cooking go a little smoother.  This one caught my eye because it's a Mercury-filled thermometer. You definitely don't see that anymore, it's all red colored alcohol or digital.

Vintage Metal 6-Egg Boiler with Sand Timer.

Where: Estate Sale
Paid: 50¢

Neat Metal Egg Timer.  Holds up to 6 eggs.  Cool Sand hourglass-style timer. Submerge, flip Timer, boil, done!

Blue Whirl - 1950's Egg Beater

I've always had a small fascination of egg-beaters.  My grandmother always let me play with the beater, I would be spinning and giggling away. 

Even though a little rusty, it still has character.   You can usually find these at some good sales, and especially online. I think Blue Whirl has been making these since the 19-teens..

Chrome Paper Towel/Wax Paper Bin

 Everyone's Grandma had one of these in the kitchen. Chrome Bin with tabs to keep the rolls inside. Cursive stamp "Paper Towels" and "Waxed Paper" because you always needed waxed paper for all that baking going on back then. Now with Global Warming upon us, baking has slowed wax paper sales to a screeching halt.

Toastmaster Model 2D2 Waffle Iron

Where: Probably the Salvation Army by The Holland Tunnel, NJ.
Paid: I think about $8

 To continue with the "Chromed Kitchen" era, here's an awesome Waffle Iron. A Toastmaster model 2D2. 

Manufactured  between 1939 and 1959, this one is a nice specimen. Some pitting of the chrome is evident.

"Esccelsa" Vintage Chrome Pasta Machine

Where: Random Flea Market in NJ
Paid: $10

Was a nice, good-looking, Hand-crank Pasta Machine. Heavy. The chrome had minor pitting, and the pasta cutting/rolling gears have some rust. But they turn. I'm not certain I'd actually use this, but looks good regardless. I was pleased when the seller asked for $10. No Haggles, here.

The Machine takes up a very small footprint, and is rather heavy. There's the flat roller, Fettuccine-width, and standard spaghetti. The hand-crank is removable, to set it up for the proper roller.  The nameplate flips down for access/cleaning. 

There's a dial on the side with locking thumb-button to dial in wanted thickness/thinness.

Another great Chromed piece of vintage culinary history.

1940's Superstar Master Grill

Where: Uncle Raul's Bargain Basement, Jersey City.

I love the 'Chroming' of the past. Especially, Chromed Kitchen Appliances.

Before George Forman was even Born.

Before George Forman's successful 'Grill everything you can in minutes' grill, there were these  old chrome sandwich makers. The Superstar here makes this possible. This fine specimen here is new. Unused. That's right. Not a spot of grease anywhere.

Did I mention Unused?

 This shiny clean unit has interchangeable grill plates. I need to get the waffle plates. They're still at Uncle Raul's, but I only seen one the last time I looked.

I like this scale because I like big, glass lenses, just like the one that shows how much you packed on this Winter. Sea-Foam green color, with silver specks on the linoleum (?) top. Works well.

Forman '4-Man' Coffee Maid Electric Percolator

Where: 'Thrift Village' Rochester NY
Paid: $10

Here's a nice, vintage coffee percolator from c.1930-1940's.  This was unused at the time I got it. The heater coils within the ceramic heater on the bottom were clean. Pyrex/Flameware removable carafe. Chrome over Brass Metal. lass top sight-glass bubble. Removable metal coffee basket. Bakelite handle. It heats up and perks in a jiffy. Great find.
