Taylor Candy Thermometer (Hg)

Where: Teaneck NJ Town-wide garage sale
Paid: $1.oo

I like kitchen gadgets and toys that help your cooking go a little smoother.  This one caught my eye because it's a Mercury-filled thermometer. You definitely don't see that anymore, it's all red colored alcohol or digital.

'Soft or Hard Ball?... eh- HARD CRACK!!'

More Vintage Red-handle Kitchen Toys

'Kalkometer' Mechanical Calculator c.1930's

Where: Teaneck Town-Wide Garage Sale
Paid: $1.oo !!

If you read my post about the Japanese Adding Machine a while back, I was very pleased to stumble upon this American specimen of similar ilk. It was complete with instruction booklet, metal stylus and carrying case. There wasn't much info other than this might be from the 1930's. Judging by the numerical font, that might be correct. In wonderful condition, just minor scratches on the faceplate where the stylus was dragged a little too much.  $1!!

It's handy, it's New!!

Nice clock, working! Iconic 70's drab Olive Green color.  I love flip clocks.  There's an orange neon bulb that illuminates and there's a little white and red striped dial that spins when powered up. Keeps time quite well. Oh, ZERO (0) JEWELS if you were wondering....

Vintage Lapel Microphone

Where: Lincoln Park, NJ Town-wide sale.
Paid: $2.50  (Half off)

Recoton makes consumer electronics and these microphones. This one is probably 1970's, early 1980's. I had a pile of lapel mics from them back in the old studio. This one is nice, Requires a AA battery to power it up. Very sensitive, similar to a stick-mic on someone's computer. I recorded a bass drum with this and it sounds sick! The downside was the lapel clip was broken. So what?

Power multiplied!!

Vintage Swingline 113 'Strong Arm' and Red 'Cub' Staplers

Where: Lincoln Park, NJ Town-wide sale.
Paid: $3.25 total for both

I love vintage office gear. The Stapler collection is growing.....

This $3.oo 113 was dubbed "Strong Arm" for the big ol' bar across the top and uses heavy-duty staples to puncture through a nice stack of office work.

This (25¢) Cub was the mini-stapler offered from Swingline, and comes in a nice array of cool vintage colors. This one is a nice Fire-Engine Red.

Good Old Long Island City

Unique thrift shop has a lot of stuff. They constantly rotate inventory, and there can be some interesting Vintage goodies to stumble upon.  They usually take small items like this ash tray, with flip-out cig holder tab, bundle them with similar looking items in a plastic bag, scribble 99c on there and well, there you have it!

Small, about 1.5" square metal box. Pop it open and voila! Ashtray!
